Galatians 5:24-25 NKJV
“And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Each day that we are given is special in some way, and what we do with it is extremely important. The more intentional about life I become I begin to take a closer look within myself to find out who is winning in my life. Is it my soul (flesh) or my spirit?
Now for starters my role is to encourage everyone to attend church…..you know because it’s good for you. However, over the years I have heard a number of reasons, excuses, and justifications for why people aren’t able to attend church. What I have realized though is how so many miss what is really happening when they don’t attend.
There’s more to this than just missing out on spiritual growth and a large family of believers. It starves our spirit of the needed nutrients that produce growth, giving us the ability to fulfill God’s plan for our lives. This was spoken in the previous verses 22-23 regarding the fruit of the Spirit.
This is not a once a week kind of thing….it is every single day. Each day holds its own challenges but who’s going to win, the flesh or the spirit? The more we commit ourselves to spending time with the Lord and seeking His plan, the stronger our spirit becomes.
You ever notice how hard it is to get yourself to exercise? It’s like pulling teeth, but once you start the process it gets easier and easier. The same goes for our soul, its desires are to sleep in, and sit on the couch longer.
The more our spirit is fed the more we desire. The more we desire the stronger we become. The stronger we become the less the soul wins, ultimately bringing more glory to God.
So who are you allowing to win in your life? Nobody to blame but ourselves for the end result. I encourage you to stop allowing your flesh to have rule and start feeding your spirit so you can have true victory.
Declare today and every day, “My spirit will rule today and I will win in Jesus’ name.”Written by: Pastor Dan Dykes
