Genesis 13:10-13
And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar. 11 Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other. 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom. 13 But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.

2 Cor. 5:7, For we walk by faith, not by sight.

The moment you allow yourself to be governed by sight, then the only senses that you will be making decisions from are your flesh.
Lot made a decision when it was time to separate from Abram according to what he could see, not caring what was really there.
He looked out and saw that the land was good for his animals.

When we make sight decisions then we are limited to only the moment, and success cannot be determined by looking at a snapshot. It is like taking a picture and telling the story from looking at the picture. The only thing you can really do is make up a story. I’m thinking about that movie “What About Bob”, if you only had the pic of the family together after his morning interview you would think that the Doc loved him. The truth of the whole story was that Bob drove him nuts. Bob crashed his vacation, and was crazy, BUT, according to the snapshot, it all looked good.

When we make decisions according to sight, then we are trying to create our own story around one moment of temporary vision. The truth of the story that will unfold could be like Lot and his family. Once you make those sight decisions, then you have to accept the consequences of the choice.
