When a New Year comes everyone decides to make a resolution (usually going to the gym or to eat healthier) and they usually give up after a week. They are both great things to work on, but if you were to do one thing for 2016 I would like to challenge you to change your perspective. Let me explain quickly. Often times Christians do not fully grasp how big God truly is.
We feel alone in our situations and think that we have to do everything in our “natural” strength. Our perspective is tainted because God wants to be heavily involved in everything we do. The sad thing is we continually choose to limit God and put Him in the “traditional Christian” box. He is the solution to every need, want, and desire that we have!
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:16-17).
In this story Elisha and his servant were in a city surrounded by an army preparing an attack. His servant was assessing the situation with his “natural” eyes and not his spiritual eyes. Elisha had to change his perspective and pray that God would open his servant’s eyes. When God did, the servant saw the true scenario. The angels of the Lord were around the army protecting them! When the servant’s perspective changed he was no longer in fear, but he was full of confidence and ready to face the situation.
I want to challenge you for 2016 to change your perspective. The Bible speaks of walking by faith and not by sight. Faith says that we are fully persuaded that whatever we are facing. God is in full control. If we do our responsibility (the required prudence) Jesus will do His responsibility and meet every need we have.
