WATCH OUT FOR THESE 4!

mistakes

GOD GAVE US SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT TO STAY AWAY FROM TO PLEASE HIM.

1 Cor. 10:6, Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

The children of Israel displeased the Father and through this portion of Scripture addressed 3 areas that made Him unhappy with His family.

1)  Verse 7 –  And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

IDOLATRY – placing anything before Jesus.  He is to be #1 in our lives.  Exodus 20:3, You shall have no other gods before Me.  God is not a good sharer!!

2) Verse 8a – Nor let us commit sexual immorality….23,000 died in one day.

SEXUAL IMMORALITY – this has become commonplace in today’s Christian world but God has not changed His stance.  Sex before marriage is still a sin, and sex with someone who is not your spouse is still a sin in the sight of Christ.  God does not take sin lightly even though the American church does.

3)  Verse 9 – nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.

TEMPTING CHRIST – He is a God of His Word!  Tempting Him will only produce a negative experience on our behalf.  Gal. 6:7, Don’t be misled–you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.

4)  Verse 10 – nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

COMPLAINING – this is ranked right up there with sexual sins and idolatry.  Who would have thought!  STOP COMPLAINING!!!  Rejoice in the Lord!  Praise the Lord!  Shout unto the Lord!  The joy of the Lord is your strength!

VERSE 11 – Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

RID YOURSELF OF THESE SINS AND PLEASE YOUR KING!
