Get Off Spiritual Welfare!

John 9:4
I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.

Can you imagine back in the gold dust days a boomering town. One minute it was nothing but barren ground, with no people, the next minute….EUREKA!!
A mad rush from all over the country to get to that spot where they found gold. That spot of dirt is now a city filled with life and great wealth. Families, money, activity, life, but something happened.
The gold was still there, but everyone decided to just hang out at the corner. They didn’t look for gold, no more digging, no more prospecting, just sitting around. Soon enough the money runs out and the the booming town becomes nothing more than tumbleweeds and a dog running down the center of the road. What happened to make this a ghost town?

Jesus said He came to work the works of the Father.
This is interesting to me – the first word works means (labor, exercise, perform), the second word works means (business, industry).

So the verse says:

Unless the body of Christ decides to go back to work of the Father’s business then the local church will become a ghost town.

How many people have you shared Jesus with this week?
How many people have you led to the Lord this year?
How many friends or enemies have you brought to Father’s House for a meal?

Stop being a spiritual welfare recipient, and get back to work!
