Now the Lord had said to Abram:“Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The promise, covenant with Abram was powerful and one that compelled him to journey about 800 miles with all that he had to the land of promise, Canaan!
It is exciting when God’s Word speaks to us a believers, His promises are yes and amen! His Word is saturated with the blessing and covenant promises for His children.
YET! LIFE COMES…….DIFFICULT TIMES ARRIVE…….HARDSHIP APPEARS….NOW WHAT?
Genesis 12:10, Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land.
We know that God told him to go to Canaan, and in verse 7 God again declares that this is the land He would give to all his descendants. Abram had raised up an altar – all is well and good and God is good all the time!!!
The situations changed, the environment changed.
2 Cor. 5:7, For we walk by faith, not by sight.
We are cool with walking in faith as long as everything is going good!
As long as the reports are favorable, as long as everything is going my way, as long as it all makes sense, as long as I have it all in control, I will remain in faith….lol
ABRAM obeyed, walked in HUGE faith, but now is faced with a reality – famine, lack and now has to decide – do I stay in faith, and trust that if He brought me this far, trust that the promise God spoke, trust the Word that I received, trust that the Word of God is truth not only in the good, but in the difficult.
What happens when you leave the promise and go to Egypt?
We will finish this one tomorrow!!!
