When we think about Joseph we think about his coat of many colors and that he saved the entire nation of Israel and his family.
It is not right to look at the END without looking at the process!
Joseph was a GREAT man of faith, trust, reliance upon the God that He met in a supernatural experience.
Gen. 37:5-11 Joseph had a supernatural encounter with Jesus! We can all relate to that. Like Paul we all met Jesus and it changed our lives.
Where were you when you really had an encounter with Christ?
Whenever you have that encounter that changes your entire life, you have to know that the enemy of our soul is coming to try to steal away that seed. (John 10:10, The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.)
Joseph was excited and shared with his brothers and father the God experience, and the dream. The dream was that his brothers and father would all bow to him. The sharing of the dream was that last straw for his brothers that hated him anyway.
Gen. 37:24 When Joseph brought his brother’s food while they were tending the flocks, they grabbed him and stripped his coat, and then threw him in a pit!
I thought when I had my encounter with Jesus everyone would be excited for me!!
The closest people to him – sold him into slavery!
You can imagine the mind of Joseph – God we just hung out and You spoke to me, so I know you are going to get me out of this mess. Then those brothers are going to get it for sure!
Ummm – NOPE – they sold their little brother, who just met with God, to the Midianites, who them sold him to Potiphar (37:36)
Can you understand what Joseph must have been thinking?
Where are you God?
We just had this awesome experience, why did you let this happen to me?
I thought you would have delivered me out of the pit, why am I here?
Because Joseph had a relationship with God – because he did not base that on his situations – because he chose to keep the faith – because he continued in fighting the good fight of faith and not giving up and getting mad at God – GOD BLESSED HIM EVEN IN THE HARD PLACE.
Gen. 39:1-4 God blessed with increase, prosperity, favor and most of all – His Presence
All because Joseph did lose faith – Faith is our Victory!
It was a dark season
A hard season
A season of losing everything near and dear to him, BUT, he chose to stay close to God
IN YOUR DARK SEASON – YOUR ANSWER DETERMINES YOUR RESULT!
Joseph was in a horrible place, yet, the place did not determine his blessing. The God he trusts determined his blessing and prosperity.
