And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
I love this portion of Scripture because we can change a few words around and completely show the opposite of faith.
READ THIS TEXT WITH JUST A FEW CHANGES IN IT!
And being weak in faith, he did consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was not strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and was not fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for unrighteousness.”
The two portions are the same except one is filled with doubt, and one is filled with faith, trust.
Strength or weakness of faith is not determined by God, it is determined by us. Faith comes by hearing the Word and learning to trust God by knowing Him. When our faith is weak it is because we are not feeding our faith. We are not getting into the Word, and not getting teaching to feed our spirit.
The only way to waver is to question God’s actually ability. When we are wavering we are saying that we are not sure if God is powerful enough to actually handle the situation. He is weak, unable, not supernatural, just weak like a man. When we begin to waver, that should immediately ignite the necessity to grab the Word and start feeding our faith.
Being convinced, INCREASES AS WE GROW IN TRUST. This means that you have decided to trust Him. He is always trustworthy, and faithful, but we have to choose to believe and be convinced, or doubt begins to take over.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double- minded man, unstable in all his ways.
DON’T BE DOUBLE-MINDED, FEED YOUR FAITH!!
FEED YOUR FAITH, AND STARVE YOUR DOUBTS.
