WRITTEN BY: CHAD MICHEAL SPENCER
I just want to expound on a scripture I recently did some research on and hopefully stir something up in you!
Acts 1:8 is a common verse and many Christians overlook what the Word is actually saying!
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
The word power in the Strong’s is – G1411 – dynamis.
inherent power, power residing in a thing.
power for performing miracles.
The power that Jesus has given us is inherited. Something that we inherit is something that you yourself have not earned. The person leaving behind the inheritance has earned it. Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we could have this inherited power to perform miracles. He is seated at the right hand of the Father and He left us His power to carry out His legacy. As a Christian we need to walk in our inheritance which is the power to perform miracles.
Mark 16:15-18 – And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
The Bible does not say if you are a Pastor or an Evangelist to go and do these things.. it says for those who believe. Do you believe? Do these signs follow you?
In Acts 1:8 I also want to dig into the word witness – G3144 – martys.
Witness – is talking about in a legal sense. In court there are witnesses who have to come and testify to what they know about a specific matter. When we act in this power that Jesus has left behind for us we will always have the opportunity to witness. Miracles attract people and open them up to the things of God. Once we get them to that position to receive, we must testify what Jesus has done for us! That is what being a Christian is about. Pointing people to Jesus.
Have a blessed day and remember YOU have that power. Tell someone about Jesus today! (If you do not know how or this is something new to you go to this link and follow the script it is great to help you when first starting).
