As we all know, life is filled with many challenges and struggles.
Just because you are born again does not mean that trouble and difficult times are not going to come to your door.
The problem is not the problem, its what you do with the problem.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
VALLEY OF DEATH SOUNDS SO SCARY!
Historically the Valley of the Shadow of Death is really interesting and understanding makes the verse come ALIVE.
Death is the mountain range and the valley was so deep and the mountain was so high that it created a place where the sun does not shine.
It is between Jerusalem and Jericho and was in the same span where the Samaritan man was beaten and left for dead.
It was a place where robbers hid, where animals waited for their prey, damp, dark, and a place that creates and fosters fear.
In our history we can all relate to situations, places and difficult times that have strived to debilitate, arrest, cripple, and have FEAR overtake us.
WE MUST WALK THOUGH THE VALLEY! WE ARE PASSING THROUGH THE PLACE OF TROUBLE, NOT CAMPING OUT!
Sheep – we are called His sheep, and Jesus is our Shepherd (JOHN 10).
Sheep, when it gets dark, tend to lay down.
Sheep do not like tight spaces or wet places – they like the wide open.
Sheep, when they become afraid freeze and fall over.
They get very nervous and have a flight zone – they run, FREAK OUT, panic.
For the sheep to live, when they go through the Valley of the Shadow of Death they have to keep moving, move as a flock, and not lay down!
GOING THROUGH WITH JESUS! HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU!
Don’t give up.
Don’t lay down.
Don’t let fear get you to run.
Keep your eyes on the Shepherd and you will go THOUGH!
