“If ye love me, keep my commandments” John 14:15
Romans 6:1-2, Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? 2 Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?
Today’s Christian sins freely without the understanding of the true meaning of love. Love is NOT JUST – it is multifaceted. When you look at a diamond shimmering in the sunlight, you are seeing the one diamond, but the facets are what are reflecting the wholeness. It is the multiplicity of facets that make the totality. God’s love is the whole, but within the love is justice and discipline. Without them the diamond would have one whole side missing.
A facet of love is justice – discipline / Heb. 12:10-11, For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. 11 No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
Because God’s love is unconditional, does it mean we can live our sinful life, and He has to forgive us?
Do not be confused with His unconditional love that never ceases. With the justice of God, they are on the same diamond of whole love.
Gal. 6:7-8, Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. 8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
Have you ever been around someone who takes advantage of people?
They get as much out of them as possible.
They use the people around them for what they can get out of the them.
They abuse them because the other person is generous.
Is that a true relationship?
We do not sin because we cannot – we do not sin because we do not want to hurt the One we love the most!
IF, IF, IF you love ME, keep my commandments.
