Spiritual Whore Pt. 2

1 Cor. 4:15-16,  For even if you had ten thousand others to teach you about Christ, you have only one spiritual father. For I became your father in Christ Jesus when I preached the Good News to you. 16 So I urge you to imitate me.

The major difference between a hireling and a true pastor of the Word is in the raising, caring, training design.  A hireling does not care if you become successful, does not give the tools to succeed, and does not correct, and redirect because they really do not care that much for the sheep.  It is a job.  A true pastor is a father of the faith.  A father should model behavior, a father should discipline and direct without dictating, a father prepares for success in the world when the child leaves the house.  A true father cares enough to grab and let go when each needs to happen to bring maturity in a life.

Paul was saying that there were not many fathers in the faith, and sadly, it is more true than many desire to admit.

The calling of the father in the faith, and being a spiritual parent is not dependent on which of the 5 fold ministry you are called into, they all have the basic same responsibilities.

Eph. 4:11-16,  Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

A true spiritual parent will equip you for success!

A true spiritual parent will bring in into unity of faith and vision!

A true spiritual parent will bring you from babyhood to adulthood in the maturation process!

2 Tim. 4:2-4,  Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.

OUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO THE FATHER GOD, AND TO THE CHILDREN OF HIS HOUSE!

NO PARENT IS PERFECT, BUT, THE VALUES WE HAVE LIVED THEY WILL FOLLOW – IS IT A GODLY EXAMPLE?
